Built to Be Lived In
Family Home
Max and Julia were refreshingly direct. Young children, a home they intended to actually live in, and no interest in spending the next decade worrying about it. Beautiful. Robust. Easy to look after when the inevitable happens.
The trap with a brief like that is over-correcting — choosing materials so hard-wearing they feel institutional, or so low-maintenance they feel cheap.
We kept it simple and honest. Solid materials that can be repaired rather than replaced.
Natural finishes that don't need a specialist — if something needs touching up, Max or Julia can do it themselves. The joinery is hand-painted in colours that age with dignity. The children's rooms were designed to work now and grow up with them.
The result is a home the whole family can actually relax in. Good materials, honestly applied, that only get better with time.
