NICKLIN X EMILY SCULLION ARCHITECTS

AN INVITATION

A WORKSHOP IN THE WORKSHOP

NICKLIN X EMILY SCULLION ARCHITECTS

Your Hands. Our Workshop.
Real Making.

Most furniture suppliers show you catalogues.
We're handing you the tools.

We’d love it if you could join us to spend a morning on our workshop floor.

Not watching. Making.

You'll work brass until you understand why cheap hardware fails in restaurants. Sand wood until you feel the difference between good finish and bulletproof finish. Build joints that show you why some details survive and others don't.

By lunch, you'll have sawdust on you, lacquer under your nails, and answers to questions you didn't know you had.

ABOUT THE DAY
09:30
Coffee on the workshop floor.
Tools out. Materials ready.

10:00 – 14:30
Three stations.
You rotate through:

BRASS DETAILING
File it. Fit it. Finish it. Feel how metal meets wood. Understand why patina matters and protection fails.

WOOD FINISHING
Apply stain. Apply lacquer. Scratch test it. Chemical test it. See which finishes survive hospitality and which ones lie.

BUILD SOMETHING REAL
Understand tolerances. See why specifications matter when your hands are the ones trying to make it work.

13:30
Lunch at the workshop table.
Bring your project problems. We'll solve them with materials in hand.

14:30
You leave with what you made, samples you finished, and knowledge you can use Monday.

Why This Matters
You design Restaurants. Bars. Hotels. Cafes. Places where people gather.
We build you what goes in them.

But there's a gap between your CAD file and opening night. Specifications get diluted. Details get simplified. Quality gets negotiated down.

This closes that gap. When you've worked the brass yourself, you know what to specify. When you've applied the finish, you know what survives. When you've built the joint, you design smarter details.

Better knowledge makes better specifications.

Better specifications make better spaces.
